Window tinting and the Law

Window Film Centre and the police authorities stress the imprtance of adhering to current legislation.

Legal requirement; Section 32 of Road Vehicles Construction and Use Regulations (Road Traffic Act 1986) stimpulates the following Visable Light Transmissions (VLT) values:-

Front windoscreen- VLT 75%

Driver/passenger Front side windows- VLT 70%

If the front/passanger vehicle side glass is already factory tinted applying a tinted film to the glass will breach the Act.

Safety Statement; Window Film Centre is working to promote responsible window tinting of vehicles and understands the concerns of police authorities. We therefore test all front drivers and passangers window glass for VLT prior to installation. Under no circumstances will we fit film to vehicles if the VLT does not meet current legislation or in our opinion it will compromise the safety of the driver, the vehicle occupants or other road users.
