Tinted vehicle windows - The RULES from the VOSA If you've got tinted vehicle windows, the front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows 70%.
There are no rules for tinting the rear windscreen or rear passenger windows.It is also illegal to sell a vehicle with heavily tinted windscreen and front windows.
There are penalties for having wrongly tinted windows:
The police or VOSA vehicle examiners use light measuring equipment to measure window tint.
If your windscreen or front side windows are tinted too much you could get:
- a 'prohibition notice' stopping you using your vehicle on the road until you have the extra tint removed
- a penalty notice or court summons

We will always try to make a booking with a few days at either Ipswich, bury St Edmunds or Colchester sites
Do we do mobile work?
No. We require a very clean environment when fitting window film (free of dust and dirt etc) so we like to only do work from our sites. We do however like to fit in with our customers and will provide a pick-up collection service within a 10mile radius.
How dark can you have front passenger and drivers windows and/or windscreen?
The windscreen must allow 75% of light to pass through and the driver and front passenger windows must allow 70% of light to pass through. Please see LAWS
Is there a warranty?
We provide a 7 year warranty which stays with the vehicle. It also include accidental damage.
How long will it take?
Depending on what vehicle you have and how much of the glass your having tinted having b-post on a small hatchback can take approx. 1.5hours but up to 3/4hours on a large SUV or Estate having A-post fitted. We are able to give you a better estimate when we quote for the exact vehicle.
